2004 New York City 4th of July Celebration, in the 2004 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and BET's 2005 Celebration of Gospel. In the meantime she has recorded her 1st single, wowed audiences across America in the 2004 American Idol summer tour, recorded her 1st album and video, participated in the 2004 American Idol Christmas special and raised money for charities, including tsumnami relief.
Along the way she has won a VIBE Award and been nominated for two NAACP awards (winning for Outstanding Female Artist). All of this has occurred in less than twelve months of winning the AI title. Whew!!!!!!!!! Congratulations, Fantasia! Keep up the good work!
On July 13, 2004, American Rag Cie signed Fantasia as spokesmodel. As a spokesmodel, Fantasia will appear in national advertising, make personal appearances at American Rag Cie shops in selected Macy's stores and wear American Rag Cie clothes in public appearances throught the year. Fantasia has written a book! Life is Not a Fairy Tale is Fantasia's autobiography from her teen years through her American Idol win. The book, published by Fireside. The movie, The Fantasia Barrino Story: Life is Not a Fairy Tale, which is based on Fantasia's book, aired in August 19-21, 2006 on Lifetime TV Network, and was "the most viewed cable program of the week". According to Nielsen Media Research, the 8/19/2006, 9:00PM EST airing averaged 6.65 million viewers. The 8/20/2006, 8:00PM EST airing averaged 5.04 million viewers.1
On April 10, 2007, Fantasia began starring on Broadway in The Color Purple! Before her first bow, advance ticket sales have already reached $2 million. Her last performance was on January 6, 2008.
